If you have many games you prefer to use a Controller with in Origin or Uplay (non-Steam) then that even furthers the push to suggest an Xbox 360 or One type of Controller, as those game clients don't really offer "options" which makes the user rely on emulator apps for a Controller to work outside of Steam when it's not an Xbox type. This controller is a must-have for every gamer out there. most games design their PC version of Games around an Xbox Controller by default.Īlso consider how controllers work outside of Steam Client too. Sure others work, like Sony DS4 types however anything other than basically Xbox or Steam Controller, and you will not have ALL functions, or perhaps not the correct layout via what you see on controller vs what is shown on-screen in-game. Microsoft and Sony might have many devices assembled in China or Mexico, that's definitely not the same as a generic brand would do, where they half-butt everything in the book in order to get it to you at a lower price point. □□Īssembled in China vs stolen and put together by an actual no-name brand are two different things. Screw it, I just might have to get a NEW controller, & see if that solves it. It might just be this controller, who knows?īut then WHY would Windows joy.cpl detect all buttons as functional?įor reference D-PAD's (raw data) X & Y coordinate values: (in joy.cpl) & I just tried the controller on my other gaming PC, and all the same things happen. If I try to assign anymore than 2 it'll remove the other D-PAD assigments. Sometimes, when I click any button on the controller it sets off a strange loop that acts as if I'm holding in DOWN, and the only way to stop the crazy loop is to exit the Settings.Īlso, It only lets me assign 2 of the 4 D-PADs. Mouse clicking is all screwed up and becomes randomly disabled, and the bottom menu flashes as I move the mouse cursor. Something conflicts with my mouse and keyboard while in the Controller setup too. The Steam Controller setup becomes totally erratic. Thank you for trying to help, but I actually tried that procedure before without any luck If you need further help, perhaps we can chat one-on-one Some games will have their own settings as well. I really wanna play some Mega Man(and other retro NES games) using this retro-controller! I also tried messing around with the settings under the 'Big Picture Configuration', and 'Desktop Configuration', and the 'Guide Button Chord Configuration', but NOTHING is working correctly!Īny help with setting up this controller correctly, would be Awesome!, Why would Windows joy.cpl detect all the buttons correctly, but Steam is having issues? While in the Steam Controller configuration, when I press DOWN on the controller it moves the menu highlight UP!! urrrrgh!! wth!? It can only remap two of the D-PAD buttons: LEFT & UP, or only RIGHT & DOWN, etc., and some of the other buttons don't wanna work. However Steam is having issues remapping the buttons under: 'Controller>General Controller Settings>Define Layout'. It successfully detects UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT and all the other buttons. This generic usb controller I have appears to work just fine when testing it under the Windows 10 joy.cpl settings.
